Can a EMP event knock out an airplane engine?
That was the challenge to show the viewer.
Airplane engines use magnetos because that
is a very simple and reliable system. To
demonstrate vulnerabilities I used AC electromagnet
with a 1700 pound lifting force to induce
counterproductive currents into the ignition
system of a magneto powered 4 stroke engine.
I will say that more than a few MIT friends
were betting against me on this one. But
it worked!
